Purple Romagna Artichoke

The Romagna Artichoke or ‘violet of Romagna’, is a prized and tasty variety, with violet colored, globose heads, without thorns and of medium / large size. Used boiled, fried, raw in pinzimonio. It has a high fiber content and organic acids (tannins). Among the various substances, this type of Artichoke contains cynarine, a choleretic and cholagogue principle which therefore regulates intestinal functions. It also has tonic, diuretic and hypocholesterolizing activity. For these properties the plant is recommended for liver patients, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, arthritis, colitis and eczema.
